Fly

Fly

Dixie Chicks

The Dixie Chicks' (now The Chicks) second studio album from 1999 brings a blend of contemporary country and bluegrass traditions, led by hits like "Goodbye Earl" and "Cowboy Take Me Away."

Released in August 1999 by Monument Records, “Fly” is the second studio album by the highly influential Texas all-female country band the Dixie Chicks (now known as The Chicks). After breaking onto the scene with their predecessor “Wide Open Spaces,” the group established their status as one of the most important and successful acts in the history of contemporary country music with this release, combining a traditional sound with an uncompromising attitude and superb songwriting.

Musically, the album skillfully balances energetic bluegrass notes, classic country ballads and infectious pop-country melodies. Recognizable instrumental sections on violin, banjo and dobro, combined with impeccable three-part harmonies and expressive vocals by Natalie Maines, give the release authenticity and inimitable dynamism. The album is marked by unforgettable singles, including the controversial and humorous "Goodbye Earl", the romantic "Cowboy Take Me Away" and "Without You", and bold and fast songs like "Ready to Run".

The album "Fly" achieved diamond circulation and won two Grammy Awards, confirming the artistic maturity of the band and becoming a key release for all fans of modern and traditional country sound.
