Marijine biljke
It is not surprising that our Croatian people—who chose Mary as their Queen, as sung in the hymn "Zdravo Djevo" (Hail, Virgin—Heavenly Virgin, Queen of the Croats)—have named many plants after her.
The most beautiful gift the Creator has bestowed upon the human race is nature—man’s environment—which, I would like to emphasize, we must love and protect; for we are part of it, and within this living nature, in all its beauty, God’s generosity is revealed in the most striking way. God has adorned our blue planet with humanity and its environment. It is therefore no wonder that our people, who share a special bond with the natural world, give Mary’s name not only to plants but also to animals and minerals. By bestowing her name upon these things, they wish to draw attention to her as the greatest signpost on our journey with Christ toward the Father.
