The Kidnapping of Captain Sinbad is an original adventure and detective novel by Dobroslav Jurjevski, written in the style of popular works by Arthur Conan Doyle and Edgar Wallace. The plot introduces the reader to the lives of Croatian-Americans and begins with a dramatic kidnapping in New York. The central figure is Dr. Mihoković, a brilliant Croatian engineer from Chile who designed a marvelous seaplane-like vessel capable of flight and equipped with destructive rays that can disable enemy arsenals in defense of national interests.

After selling his vessel to the United States, the engineer becomes the target of a dangerous mafia syndicate that cunningly ensnares him, intending to ship him to Europe and punish him for his patriotic exploits. The novel follows the grueling search by New York detectives who pull out all the stops to locate the abducted hero. Through a dynamic narrative, the author skillfully depicts the criminal underworld of New York, Prohibition-era offenses, the adventures of both Croatian and foreign immigrants, and the use of cutting-edge police technology to solve crimes.

Blending elements of technological fiction, patriotism, and a tense thriller, the work offers an exceptionally vivid portrayal of the diaspora experience and the police manhunt, holding the reader's attention from the first page to the last.
