Zagor LU #91: Smrt u ledu

In Smrt u ledu, Zagor, Chico and Bull continue their pursuit through the snowy country around Lake Ontario. Sheriff Brad Stevens and his assistants join them, but greater numbers offer no guarantee of safety. Their quarry leaves a bloody trail, while bitter weather and difficult terrain make the chase increasingly dangerous.

Behind the pursuit lies the unresolved murder of trappers connected with a gold discovery on Seneca land. Bull’s personal tragedy—the killing of his wife—adds a powerful desire for revenge. Zagor must connect the clues and distinguish between different crimes rather than accept the easiest explanation.

Moreno Burattini combines a winter western, a murder mystery and a drama about the consequences of violence. Greed and social exclusion give the conflict greater weight than a straightforward confrontation with an outlaw. Finding the truth also tests Zagor’s ability to understand lives shaped by loss and injustice.

Gallieno Ferri illustrates the conclusion of the three-part adventure begun in Ludens #89, Čovjek s puškom, and continued in #90, Bijela srdžba. Snow and ice are more than scenery: they intensify the characters’ exhaustion, isolation and constant exposure to danger.
