Sudbina nepoznata

Sudbina nepoznata

Agatha Christie

The plot follows Hilary Craven, a young woman who, broken after the loss of her daughter and the breakdown of her marriage, decides to end her life in Morocco.

Before she can do so, British intelligence officer Jessop convinces her to join a dangerous mission. Hilary assumes the identity of Olive Betterton, the wife of missing scientist Tom Betterton, who may have defected behind the Iron Curtain or been kidnapped for his nuclear research. The search for Betterton takes Hilary on a journey from Casablanca through North Africa to a mysterious destination where an organization is hiding that is gathering scientists to create a new world order. The novel explores themes of Cold War tensions, scientific ethics, and personal redemption, as Hilary discovers the strength to make a new beginning. Christie combines the suspense of the spy genre with psychological drama, but without her usual detectives such as Poirot or Miss Marple. The style is dynamic, with an emphasis on intriguing characters and exotic locations, although critics often find the work less compelling than her classic mysteries.
