The need for such a dictionary has been felt for a long time, and not only among the few experts of the Latin language. Namely, the existing dictionaries cannot satisfy the ever-increasing demands of users.
The Grammar of the Croatian or Serbian Literary Language (first ed. 1899, third 1963, Matica hrvatska) is a classic normative grammar of the Štokavian (Vukonian) type: sounds, forms, word formation, syntax.
The dictionary contains 3,300 Croatian idioms/entries with associated English idiomatic equivalents of the same level of formality.
The works published in this book mostly describe the standardized or non-standardized, deeply normal nature of the Croatian language.
The main philological work of Nikola Andrić, linguistic advisor Defender of Croatian Language, was published in 1911 in two editions. It contains articles that he published in the National Gazette under the title Philological Trifles.
