Zagor LU #84: Ljudi i zvijeri
Fear of a mysterious creature grips Goldridge’s gold prospectors. Zagor investigates the violence before a new adventure takes him into the troubles facing Haven Gate’s settlers.
Ljudi i zvijeri concludes a dark adventure among the gold prospectors of Goldridge. Violence is attributed to a mysterious creature identified in Indigenous belief as Wendigo, the forest spirit. Zagor must distinguish fear, superstition and genuine responsibility in a community where rumours can quickly become a verdict.
Ade Capone and Renato Queirolo use horror motifs to ask what truly makes a human being monstrous. The apparent threat from the wilderness directs attention towards the unknown, while the story’s moral weight emerges through human actions. Seeking the truth also means confronting prejudice, brutality and the temptation to blame someone who seems different.
Stefano Andreucci’s artwork combines forest atmosphere, suspense and action. The issue then changes creative teams as Bepi Vigna and Gaetano Cassaro begin Il passo del diavolo, an adventure concerning the endangered inhabitants of Haven Gate.
The volume therefore connects a mystery with a horror atmosphere and a Western about a community’s survival. The first story begins in Ludens #83, Izdajnik, while the second concludes in #85, Sramotan sporazum. It suits readers drawn to Zagor adventures in which an outward threat leads to questions about human motives and moral responsibility.
