Povijest umjetnosti IV: Moderna umjetnost

Povijest umjetnosti IV: Moderna umjetnost

Élie Faure

One of the most important works in the field of art history. Through this work, Faure gave a unique and personal view of the development of artistic creativity. 134 p. with boards, A-F folded p. with synoptic tables.

Faure's interpretation of art is not only a chronological presentation of styles and works, but a deep reflection on the spirit of the times that shapes artistic expression.

Faure uses the term "spirit of form" to explain the way in which artistic expressions reflect the underlying impulses and aspirations of a period. The art form, according to Faure, is not only a technical manifestation, but an expression of the inner zeitgeist, collective beliefs, fears and ideals.

According to him, art is the universal language through which humanity communicates through the ages, and the development of art is the history of human spirituality.

The book follows the chronological course of the development of art, but at the same time explores the philosophical and social aspects of each period. Faure does not separate styles or epochs strictly, but analyzes their mutual influences.
