Lajos Zilahy
Ungarischer Schriftsteller (Nagyszalonta, 27. März 1891 – Novi Sad, 1. Dezember 1974), Abschluss in Rechtswissenschaften, arbeitete als Anwalt; ab Anfang der 1920er Jahre widmete er sich ganz der Literatur. Ab 1947 lebte er in den USA und von Anfang der 1970er Jahre bis zu seinem Tod in Jugoslawien. Seine Romane, in denen er eine romantische Fabel mit realistischer Erzähltradition und milder Gesellschaftskritik verbindet, erfreuen sich weltweiter Beliebtheit. Die bekanntesten sind: Frühling des Todes (Halálos tavasz, 1922), Zwei Gefangene (Két fogoly, 1926), Rache der Waffen (A zagvalek vissánéznek, 1936), Die Dukays (A Dukay család, 1968).
