Robert Ludlum

The Rhinemann Exchange is a spy novel by Robert Ludlum, published in 1974. This suspenseful story is set during World War II and is characterized by intrigue, complex characters and Ludlum's signature twist-filled style.

The plot follows David Spaulding, an American intelligence officer, who receives a dangerous assignment during the most intense moments of World War II. His mission involves an exchange between Nazi Germany and the Allies - diamonds from South America are to be exchanged for revolutionary aircraft engine manufacturing technology.

Spaulding soon realizes that nothing is as it seems. He is surrounded by double agents, betrayals and deadly conspiracies, while facing moral dilemmas related to this form of cooperation with the enemy. As the exchange progresses, a complex story of greed, ambition and double-dealing on a global scale is revealed.
