Francuski pisac Filip Kirval i staknuti je predstavnik moderne struje naučne fantastike u svojoj zemlji. Autor dvanaestak romana, Kirval je relativno rano kao svoju omiljenu temu otkrio pretpostavku o postojanju bezbrojnih »paralelnih svemira».

U ovom romanu došao je do svoje možda najmaštovitije varijacije na tu temu. Da li „analogična putovanja” glavnog junaka, koji uspeva da se premešta iz sveta u svet, otkrivaju paralelne i realne, ili možda samo imaginarne svetove? Ovo pitanje ključno je za otkrivanje identiteta, porekla i stvarne ljudske moći Kirvalovog putnika, čije čudesne doživljaje pratimo u atmosferi jedne majstorski stvorene neizvesnosti.
