Stari Grad

Stari Grad

Stari Grad is a town on the island of Hvar in Croatia, in the Split-Dalmatia County.

Locals call it Old Grod. It is also called Paiz, although that name refers more to the narrower, older city core. The oldest and longest-lived city in Croatia celebrated its 2403rd birthday in 2019. The city is home to the headquarters of the Croatian Long Distance Swimming Association, making Stari Grad the only island place in Croatia where the headquarters of a national sports association of an Olympic sport is located.
