During his stay in Mainz, the young Russian nobleman Sanjin meets the beautiful Italian Gemma, with whom he falls in love.

On the street, he accidentally meets his schoolmate who wants to introduce him to his rich wife Marija, because she would like to buy the property that is for sale. The problem arises when Sanjin falls in love with a married woman...
