His lover Betty, an employee of the publishing house, becomes pregnant, jeopardizing Henry's carefully constructed life. Characters such as Obradin, a Serbian fisherman, Honor, a secretary who reads tarot, and Jenssen, a persistent investigator, further complicate the plot. Arango skillfully weaves the suspense of a thriller with a psychological portrait of a man who loses the distinction between truth and fiction. Dark humor, unexpected twists, and questions about morality and the consequences of lies make the story compelling. Published in 2014, the novel was praised as a modern German crime thriller that transcends genre, exploring the destructive power of deception.
