Ivan Vučetić: tvorac daktiloskopije
The book presents the biography and work of Ivan Vučetić, the Croatian inventor of dactyloscopy – a scientific method of identification using fingerprints.
Through the book, the author describes Vučetić's life in detail, from his beginnings on the island of Hvar, his emigration to Argentina, all the way to his revolutionary contribution to forensics. Of particular note is his work with the Argentine police, where he developed a fingerprint classification system that has become a global standard.
In addition to biographical data, the book also deals with the broader context of the development of criminalistics in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, showing how Vučetić's method helped solve criminal cases. The book thus also serves as a historical account of the progress of forensic science.
