Jedan dan u životu
Nineteen years ago, wealthy and successful film director and producer Charles Keenen disappeared without a trace from Los Angeles.
He took his two children with him and moved to an isolated and rocky corner of New Mexico, where he raised them in complete isolation from the outside world, in the utopian Sanctuary. With books, encyclopedias and gramophone records. Without television, radio and any news. But the children grew into curious young people, and the questions their father does not want to answer are increasing: what made him reject fame and success in the name of their excessive security, what happened to their mother, did she really die as their father claims? Knowing that somewhere beyond the borders of the Sanctuary there is a world that may be unjust, cruel and unpredictable, but it is real, first Jimmy, and then Dorothea, will begin a search for their past and discover that a single day in their lives suddenly changed everything. Is one day in life really enough to destroy happiness, can one ugly experience extinguish boundless love and above all, can a new life opportunity be born from the ashes? Touching and poetic, inspired by the unforgettable Charlotte Brontë, in her third novel (you can also read the first, The Poem Reader, in the Anima library), Lisa Tucker will introduce you to a family that had everything and lost it all in an instant.
