Ni san ni java prvi je Horvatov roman, koji čovjeka stavlja u središte zbivanja.

Joža Horvat ( Kotoriba, 1915.). Pripovjedač, putopisac, autor za djecu i mlade. Predratni član SKOJ-a, pripadnik partizanskog pokreta (u partizane odlazi uz pomoć Andrije Hebranga) i učesnik Domovinskog rata. Po zabrani kultnog Ciguli Migulija, Horvat se okreće moru te je napisao i sjajne putopise od kojih se ističe Besa. Nažalost, more mu je uzelo dva sina.
