Religije i nasilje: zbornik radova interdiscipliniranog i interkonfesionalnog simpozija održanog u Zagrebu, 17. listopada 2014.
The volume explores the complex relationship between religion and violence, analyzing the causes of the misuse of faith for destructive purposes, as well as the potential that religious communities offer for peacebuilding and reconciliation.
The collection of papers Religions and Violence (Religije i nasilje), edited by Mijo Nikić and Marijana Marjanović (published in 2015), addresses one of the most sensitive and pressing topics in contemporary society and interreligious dialogue. The publication examines—from a multidisciplinary perspective—a phenomenon in which religious motifs are frequently misused to justify conflict, intolerance, terrorism, and the devastation of war. Through scholarly contributions by theologians, philosophers, sociologists, and security experts, the volume analyzes the roots of religious fundamentalism and fanaticism, distinguishing the original spiritual message of the world’s major religions from its various deviations. Special emphasis is placed on the peace-building potential of religious communities, the importance of ecumenical and interreligious dialogue, and the psychological and spiritual mechanisms that can help prevent violence committed in the name of God. This volume represents a significant contribution to the discourse on the role of religion in the modern world, offering critical insight into the challenges surrounding tolerance, human rights, and the establishment of lasting peace within multicultural societies.
