Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Artur Konan Dojl je škotski pisac rođen u Edinburgu (1859–1930) kao dete Iraca katolika. Studirao je medicinu, ali je posle uspeha priča o Šerloku Holmsu prestao njome da se bavi. Posvetio se pisanju istorijskih i naučnofantastičnih romana kao i knjiga o ratovima. Sva njegova dela zasenio je, međutim, uspeh avantura Šerloka Holmsa, koje su najpre objavljivane u nastavcima u časopisu Strand 1891, a potom su, 1892, sabrane u zbirku od dvanaest priča.
