Ljubavlju opsjednuti

Ljubavlju opsjednuti

Terje Stigen

The work thematizes an intense, almost destructive love obsession, which gradually reveals the boundaries between passion, illusion and reality.

The novel's main character (often unnamed in the Scandinavian tradition of psychological prose) is an intelligent, educated man, but emotionally unstable. He develops a deep, all-pervading obsession with a woman who simultaneously attracts and repels him. His love becomes not only a source of happiness, but also of suffering - it turns into an emotional addiction.

Through interior monologues and complex interpersonal relationships, Stigen shows how love can become an obsession, violating a person's freedom, reason, and identity. The character slowly loses touch with reality, and the boundaries between true love and self-deception become increasingly blurred.
