Vuk na voćinskoj cesti
"The Wolf on the Voćin Road" by Anđelka Martić is a short story set in the period of the Second World War. The plot follows a boy, Ivica, who lives in a war-torn village.
One day, the boy Ivica meets a wounded wolf on the road and instead of being afraid of him, he feels compassion for him. The wolf symbolizes the suffering and suffering of all innocent beings in the war. Throughout the story, motifs of children's innocence, war and coexistence with nature are interwoven. Ivica decides to help the animal, which emphasizes humanity and compassion, despite the cruelty of the reality of war. The story carries a strong message of nobility and courage and points to the senselessness of war and the suffering it causes.
