Ludwig Bauer

Sudbina podunavskih Nemaca, pojedinac protiv sistema i odnos između muškaraca i žena u vremenu opterećenom istorijom – velike teme Ludviga Bauera – duboko prožimaju roman Otadžbina, zaborav.

Glavni lik je pravi idealista, čovek kojeg život nije razmazio. Odrastajući uz očuha i maćehe, svoje pravo ime i poreklo saznao je tek kao mladić. Da bi pobegao iz skučenosti zavičaja, odlazi na studije u veliki grad, a levičarski ideali ga vode dalje u Čehoslovačku i Istočnu Nemačku.
