Svaki stari dug

Svaki stari dug

William Lashner

"Past due" is a thrilling legal thriller that blends crime drama with deep characterization, keeping the reader in suspense until the very end. Lashner's style is rich in sharp dialogue, dark humor, and a tense atmosphere.

Victor Carl, a cynical Philadelphia lawyer, is struggling financially and with boring cases. His life takes an unexpected turn when he is hired by Eddie Dean, a young man connected to the murder of an old client, Jonah Prest, whose case Victor has tried to forget for years. Jonah, a former member of the mob, has left behind a trail of old debt and secrets that Victor must now uncover to save Eddie and himself.

The investigation takes Victor through the dark streets of Philadelphia, where he encounters dangerous characters: corrupt cops, mobsters and a mysterious woman from his past. He finds connections to Jonah's old crimes, including a robbery and the disappearance of a precious suitcase. As he becomes entangled in a web of betrayal, Victor realizes that he is a target himself. The plot, set in 2003, leads to an unexpected finale in which Victor discovers the truth about Jonah's murder and his own role in the story.
