Revolveraš: Kula tmine I

Stephen King

The novel explores themes of fate, sacrifice, and the search for truth, setting the stage for the epic saga that follows. King mixes western, fantasy and horror elements, creating a unique and darkly poetic world.

"The Gunslinger" follows Roland Deschain, the last gunslinger, who travels through a post-apocalyptic Wild West-like world. His obsession is to find the man in black, a sorcerer who has the answers to the Tower of Darkness – the center of all the worlds that Roland is desperate to find.

Through the desert, Roland meets various characters, including a boy named Jake from a parallel world (our world). Jake becomes his companion, and their journey exposes Roland's coolness and willingness to make sacrifices to achieve his goal. In the end, he must make a difficult decision that reveals his true nature and dedication to the Tower.

Stephen King published his first stories about Roland the Gunslinger in 1978 with Ed Ferman, editor of Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine, then the most respected monthly genre publication in the English-speaking world. Over the years, these stories saw several bound editions, and during that time, King's career, carried by the wings of his horror films, soared into the sky under the clouds. Until the day one of those editions shared the fate of King's other books and rose to the top of the bestseller lists. A little over four decades after the first sentence, we believe King has told the whole story.
