Zagor LU maxi #22: Spasilačka ekspedicija

The story begins with the return of scientists Kruger and Mayer, Zagor's acquaintances from the episodes "Sacred Deer" and "Mysterious Waters", to Darkwood at the invitation of Professor Kranack. He studies the mutated plants and animals on the edge of the "Land of No Return", a dangerous swampland known from the episode "The Haunted Land". Zagor, aware of the danger, joins the scientists in this risky expedition, along with Chika, to protect them.

The expedition faces many threats: from mutated creatures, including aggressive plants and animals, to Staggler, a former shadow man who becomes the main antagonist. His motive, greed for money, leads him into conflict with Zagor. The story takes place in a tense atmosphere, with elements of fantasy and horror, while Zagor uses his skills to save the team and expose the traitor. The plot also includes occasional flashbacks to "The Haunted Land," but Rauch cleverly avoids over-reliance on the previous episode, introducing new monsters and challenges.

Laurentini's art, although criticized for its lack of visual support, brings a dynamic atmosphere. The story stands out with a meaningful plot and the return of familiar characters, but the ending is somewhat predictable.
