The author shows that the central idea of the Polish radical right is the understanding of the nation, that is, defining the role and meaning of “Polishness”. Contrary to the thesis of the “return to Europe”, it insists on the superiority of the Polish nation in relation to Western ones. Following the footsteps of Pope John Paul II and Czesław Miłosz, it claims that this superiority of the Polish nation stems from the fact that Catholicism is still a key dimension of Polish national identity. The ideology of the Polish radical right has essential characteristics of a culturally hegemonic ideology because its ideas rule Polish society and culture. S. Lacković’s book is an important political science literature because the topic of the radical right in Poland is relevant for any research into the genesis and influence of the radical right in Europe and the world, including in Croatia.
