Smogovci i strašni Bongo

Smogovci i strašni Bongo

Hrvoje Hitrec

In the novel, the cheerful Vragec family from Dubrava, Zagreb, faces new adventures. When the mysterious Bongo appears, the boys explore a series of comical and tense events, preserving kindness and togetherness.

The Smogs and the Scary Bongo is a continuation of the popular series about the Vragec family and their friends from the Zagreb neighborhood of Dubrava. Hrvoje Hitrec once again combines humor, warmth, and adventure in a story that depicts city childhood, mischief, and sincere relationships between children.

At the center of the plot are the Vragecs – Mazalo, Nenad, Netko, Mišo, and the smallest, most lively Dudo. Their ordinary days are full of fun, games, and minor troubles, until a mysterious character named Bongo appears. The seemingly dangerous, “scary” Bongo brings unrest and a series of unusual events, but as the story progresses, it is revealed that behind the frightening mask lies loneliness, and even kindness.

Through witty dialogues, typical Zagreb situations, and warm family relationships, Hitrec creates a story that entertains, but also teaches: about not judging others, the importance of friendship and togetherness, and the courage to face prejudice.

As in other Smogovci, the author gives a picture of everyday life full of heart and optimism in simple, lively language. Smogovci and the terrible Bongo shows that heroes do not have to be superhuman - it is enough to have a pure heart, a little humor and a lot of imagination.
