Vrijeme prije jezika
Poetry begins, it all begins with the image of silence creeping up like a centipede.
Since the end of elementary school, I have always read poetry with a pencil and a small notebook that fits in every pocket, in which I write down words, phrases, constructions, verses that I like. Less to remind myself of them, more to memorize them by writing them down. I started copying from Monika Herceg's book from the title, and then I copied a lot of it. What I underline in the notebook is what I like most in the world. I underlined a lot of Monika's. I would have some things written in the sky with jets, like in Bolan's prose. For example: "and it's time to get rid of God", and the one where he holds God responsible "for the small hands with which I can't / knock a piece of the sky off my father's head". And especially: "Here, silence creeps like a centipede". Miljenko Jergović
