Ein historischer Roman von August Šenoa, der 1877 in Vijenac und 1878 als Buch veröffentlicht wurde. Der Roman trägt den Untertitel „Historische Erzählung des 16. Jahrhunderts“ und kann daher als historische Monographie in Romanform betrachtet werden.

Šenoas historischer Roman „Der Bauernaufstand“ ist eine getreue Rekonstruktion des berühmten kroatischen Bauernaufstands von 1573 und aller ihm vorausgegangenen Ereignisse. Im Mittelpunkt steht der Konflikt zwischen den Adligen Franjo Tahi und Uršula Heningova um den Besitz der Güter Susjedgrad und Stubica, der zu einer der tragischsten Episoden der kroatischen Geschichte führte – alles im Schatten der ständigen türkischen Bedrohung.
