The work traces the development of the society since its founding in 1897 in Zagreb, when “Privrednik” helped gifted students and apprentices by providing them with education, apprenticeships and accommodation. Its role in creating an educated and enterprising class of people who later contributed to the development of the economy and society is particularly emphasized. The book also covers the challenging periods the organization went through – wars, political changes and work bans – as well as the renewal of its activities in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. In addition to a historical overview, it provides examples of individuals whom “Privrednik” helped, as well as the broader social context in which it operated. Overall, the work emphasizes the continuity of the idea of ​​solidarity, education and self-help across multiple generations, presenting “Privrednik” as an important factor in social and economic development throughout the “three centuries” of its existence.
