The author describes in a simple, clear and cordial way what an emigrant can expect on a long journey by ship, how to prepare, what to look out for upon arrival and how to find their way in a new environment.

Through vivid descriptions and practical experiences, the reader gets a picture of living conditions, work opportunities, climate, health challenges and everyday life in distant countries. Marković pays special attention to psychological adaptation and preserving dignity in a new environment, which makes the book go beyond an ordinary manual and become a kind of humane advisor for those leaving their homeland.
