The book you are holding in your hands is the private diary of Dr. Franjo Tuđman, which he kept from the beginning of 1973 to the end of 1989.
In three books, and this is the first of them, we are publishing the integral text, without any cuts or changes, just as it is in the original manuscript. This is the most important, fundamental source for all those who want to get to know Tuđman, who want to research him further, because his diary is a first-class source of the most diverse information. Thus, readers will be able to get to know Tuđman firsthand as a person, husband and father, his views on events and people, his thoughts, fears, doubts, situations... But the diary is also a very rich reminder of the last two decades of communist Yugoslavia and everything that happened in it and around it. From the diary, it will be possible to read all the drama of the Yugoslav regime, all its problems, as well as its decline, its collapse, which resulted in a bloody denouement from which Tuđman emerged as the great winner.
