Knjiga o džungli I - II

Rudyard Kipling

R. Kipling's famous collection of stories in two parts. Through the experiences of the boy Mowgli and the animals of the Indian jungle, he explores the laws of nature, loyalty, growing up and the relationship between man and the wild.

"The Jungle Book 1-2" (The Jungle Book, 1894 and The Second Jungle Book, 1895) is one of the most famous and beloved works of English and world literature, which brought author Rudyard Kipling timeless fame, and later the Nobel Prize for Literature. The collection consists of a series of connected stories and accompanying poems set in the exotic and mysterious regions of India. The most famous part of both books follows the life of a human boy Mowgli, who, after losing his parents, is accepted and raised by a pack of wolves led by the wise Akela. Mowgli grows up in the wilderness, learning the strict and just "Law of the Jungle", with his main teachers and protectors being the black panther Bagheera and the bear Baloo, while his greatest opponent is the bloodthirsty tiger Shere Khan. Through Mowgli's growing up, the author masterfully depicts the conflict between human origin and animal upbringing, touching on thematic units of belonging, identity, courage and the inevitability of maturation. In addition to the stories about Mowgli, both books contain other independent, extremely striking episodes about animals - such as the acclaimed story of the brave mongoose Rikki-Tikki-Tavi in a fight against cobras or the story of the White Seal (Kotic) who seeks a safe habitat for his kind. Written in an exceptionally vivid, dramatic and lyrical style, Kipling's two-part classic is much more than a children's adventure: it is a profound allegory about human society, morality, order and respect for the laws of nature.
