Ivan Mandić (in editions from the 1980s, such as the edition of the School Book) represents one of the most significant theoretical and practical accounts of labor economics and personnel management in the period of socialist self-management. The textbook was primarily intended for students of economic faculties and experts who dealt with personnel affairs and organization in companies. In the work, the author thoroughly analyzes the role of the human factor in the production process, planning and recruitment of staff, education along with work and evaluation of work contribution. Special emphasis is placed on the specifics of labor relations within organizations of joint labor (OUR), where the personnel function is observed through the prism of self-management rights, joint decision-making and socio-economic laws of the time. Through the analysis of motivation, interpersonal relations and organizational structure, Mandić provides a comprehensive insight into the methods used to increase productivity and achieve a fair distribution of work. Due to its scope and expertise, the work remains an important testimony to the development of the science of human resource management in these areas.
