Druga strana slutnje

Druga strana slutnje

Nikša Sviličić

The characters of this novel's chain structure and completely unexpected endings are separated by life circumstances, education and what we would call modern careers, but they are united by the fact that they are not happy.

Three women. One restrained by the tradition of patriarchy, the other free-minded and frivolous, the third reconciled with the disease and its outcome.

Three men. Similar longings, different destinies. One caught in the web of environmental expectations and disappointed illusions, the other, a self-confident bon vivant who lives on the need of others to feed his own vanity and the third, caught in the trap of a marital crisis and lost career ideals.

One police inspector. One police station. A village in virtue. One metropolis. An opportunity for love and not having the strength to forgive.

Through the influence of that Something, greater than man and his intentions, in the short moments of one summer, their seemingly different, yet so similar, destinies will subtly rub against each other without their will, thus creating a whirlwind of life filled with laughter and tears, better and joy, missed and stolen opportunities, criminal investigations, career shenanigans, vows made, property gambled away... and start a chance for a new beginning...
