Agatha Christie

The Seven O'Clock Secret is a 1929 detective novel by Agatha Christie, with elements of espionage and adventure, featuring Lady Eileen "Bundle" Brent as the lead investigator, assisted by Inspector Battle.

The plot begins when Gerry Wade, a guest at Lord Caterham's house, dies of an overdose of chloral. His friends, considering the death an accident, jokingly place eight alarm clocks in his room, but one disappears, leaving "seven clocks". Bundle, Caterham's curious daughter, begins to investigate, suspecting that the death is not accidental. Soon, a second murder occurs - Ronny Devereux, a friend of Gerry's, is shot dead during a party at the Seven Clocks club in London.

Bundle, along with friends Bill Eversleigh and Jimmy Thesiger, discover that the Seven Clocks club is a front for a secret society involved in the theft of military secrets. Their investigation leads them to learn of an international conspiracy involving spies and false identities. A key clue is a coded message attached to the alarm clocks, which points to the dangerous leader of the conspiracy. After a series of twists and turns, Bundle and Battle uncover that the leader of the Seven Clock Society is someone unexpected – a respected member of the society who has manipulated events to cover up his espionage activities.

The novel combines suspense, humor and romantic elements, with an emphasis on Bundle's courage and intuition. Christie skillfully builds a plot with several twists and turns, and the end reveals the true face of the criminals.
