Vasko Popa

The collection represents an anthological selection of poems by one of the most important Serbian poets of the 20th century. The selection and afterword of "Magic Forge" is signed by Muharem Pervić, who deepens the understanding of Popa's creativity.

The book includes songs from Popa's key collections: Kora (1953), Nepočin-polje (1956), Secondary Sky (1968), Upright Earth (1972), Wolf Salt (1975), Live Meat (1975), House in the Middle of the Road (1975) and Cut (1981).

Vasko Popa, born in 1922 in Grebenac near Vršac, is considered the founder of modern Serbian poetry. His poetry, influenced by folk literature and surrealism, is characterized by brevity, symbolism and a deep exploration of mythical, metaphysical and existential themes.

In this collection, cycles such as "The Game" from Nepochin-polje stand out, where Popa creates unique poetic images, combining grotesque, humor and philosophical reflection. Songs like "Belutak", "Dandelion" or "Kosovo field" reflect his ability to turn everyday objects and scenes into powerful metaphors about human destiny, freedom and captivity.

The collection highlights Popa's skill in creating "sketch poems" that explore the relationship between man and the universe through concise yet layered language. His work, translated into many languages, cemented his status as one of the most important Yugoslav poets.
