Glavni protagonisti se suočavaju sa teškim izborima između lojalnosti tradicionalnim vrednostima i neophodnosti prilagođavanja novim ideologijama. Kroz njihove priče, autor pokazuje kako su političke podele dovele do fragmentacije zajednica i porodica, ističući tragične posledice rata na individualnom i kolektivnom nivou. „Podele“ se ističu po dubokoj psihološkoj analizi likova i realističnom prikazu ratnih strahota.
