Mistakenly kidnapped and tied to a ceiling beam, Sam Jones tries to remember her special love adventure. The painful blows, along with her innate humor, will encourage the heroine to focus all her peace of mind on solving life's problems.
The main character, Sam Jones, a London artist and stuntwoman, is kidnapped from the parking lot of a film studio. She wakes up chained up in a basement, discovering that she has been mistaken for a Russian prostitute by incompetent mafia thugs.
In captivity, she meets Natasha, the real victim, and the two women join forces to escape: Sam with her inventiveness, Natasha with her brutality. They use chains and glass as weapons, but gangster Ivan sets out to exact revenge. The hunt takes them through dark London streets, motel rooms and studios, uncovering a web of corruption, human trafficking and the art world.
Sam's friend and former lover Terry investigates, becoming entangled with art dealers connected to the gang. The conflicts escalate: gunfire, fights and betrayals lead to bloody showdowns. Henderson mixes tension with British humor - Sam mocks the misfortunes: "If I'm in chains, at least they're stylish."
