Please Please Me

Please Please Me

The Beatles

The Beatles – Please Please Me is a licensed Yugoslav release of the legendary band's first studio album. The album features the beginnings of "Beatlemania" and a series of songs that shaped the history of pop-rock music.

Please Please Me is the debut studio album by the British band The Beatles, originally released in 1963, and Jugoton's licensed edition allowed local music fans to get to know one of the most important albums in the history of rock. The album was recorded in a short period of time, and its energy and spontaneity faithfully convey the atmosphere of the early performances of the Liverpool band.

The album contains the first big hits that launched the Beatles among the world's biggest music stars, including I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Anna (Go to Him), Chains, Boys, Please Please Me, Love Me Do, P.S. I Love You, Baby It’s You, Do You Want to Know a Secret, There’s a Place and the final Twist and Shout. The title song Please Please Me stands out in particular, which became one of the group's first major successes.

The album represents the early stage of creativity of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, when they were still strongly connected with rock and roll and rhythm and blues, but already showed their own melodic recognition and authorial potential.

Jugoton's release played an important role in spreading the popularity of Beatles in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. Today, Please Please Me, published by Jugoton, is a valuable collector's item that testifies to the beginnings of one of the most influential bands in the history of popular music.
