Bajka o glinenoj ptici

Bajka o glinenoj ptici

Grigor Vitez

This is a prose collection intended for younger children. Vitez, better known for his poetry (Behind the City, If Trees Walked, etc.), writes imaginative, warm, and humanistic stories here.

The collection consists of several stories. The most famous are:

  • Boda's Stories – a series of short stories about a boy named Boda, who has a vivid imagination. His adventures and inventions often surprise or make his parents laugh. They are light, cheerful stories about children's curiosity and everyday wonders.

  • The Fairy Tale of the Clay Bird (title story) – the central and most famous. It tells the story of a boy who, after the death of his parents, is living a difficult life. He meets a clay bird that has the power to fulfill wishes. The bird helps him, and the story carries a message about hope, good wishes, human solidarity and the power of imagination in difficult times.

The other stories in the collection are also fairy tales and moral-educational, with an emphasis on friendship, imagination, nature and little life lessons.
