Junaci Domovinskog rata #9

Junaci Domovinskog rata #9

Davor Runtić

The ninth book in the series brings eight new testimonies of Croatian defenders whose courage, perseverance and sacrifice bear witness to the creation and defense of an independent Croatia.

The ninth book in the series Heroes of the Homeland War continues to document the authentic life stories of Croatian defenders, preserving from oblivion the people who marked the defense of the Republic of Croatia with their deeds. Davor Runtić once again brings testimonies based on interviews with defenders, their comrades and family members, creating a credible record of a time in which courage, responsibility and togetherness were crucial.

This book presents the destinies of Josip Šarić – Šanta, Hrvoje Majksner, Ante Strinić, Aladar Spajić, Darko Sučević, Vjekoslav Jugec, and the shared story of Tomislav Štefaniak and Daniel Andrić. Their war journeys testify to the different experiences of the Homeland War – from voluntarily going to defend the homeland and demanding tasks on the battlefields to the trials that left a deep mark on their lives. Each story brings a unique perspective on the war, but also on the values that connected the defenders: mutual trust, sacrifice and the willingness to subordinate their own interests to the common good.

The special value of the book is its personal memories and honest testimonies that present the war events from the perspective of the people who lived through them. This is precisely why this book goes beyond the classic military chronicle and becomes a collection of human destinies filled with courage, loss, hope and faith in a free Croatia. The ninth book in the series is another valuable contribution to preserving the truth about the Homeland War and a lasting memorial to the Croatian defenders whose stories will remain part of the national memory.
