Poetizam stripa

Poetizam stripa

Srba Ignjatović

The Poetics of Comics deals with comics as an artistic medium, exploring their aesthetic and literary value. The book is a significant contribution to comics theory, offering a fundamental analysis of their artistic value and encouraging further research

Ignjatović observes comics through the prism of poetics, emphasizing his ability to combine visual and verbal elements in creating a complex artistic expression. It analyzes comics as a synthesis of literature, fine art and film, emphasizing its narrative power and the specificity of the sequential form.

The author explores the history of comics, from early forms such as hieroglyphs and ancient friezes to modern comics, such as The Yellow Kid, which introduces speech bubbles. Special attention is paid to the stylistic characteristics of comics, such as iconic, indexical and symbolic signs, and their role in the creation of meaning. Ignjatović discusses the relationship of comics with other arts, especially literature, emphasizing its ability to convey complex ideas through a simple but powerful visual-textual language.

The book also considers the social context of comics, its popularity and role in culture, especially in the context of the former Yugoslavia. Ignjatović advocates the recognition of comics as the "ninth art", opposing the prejudices that classify it as a less valuable form of expression. Through the analysis of works by the likes of Zagor and Alan Ford, the author shows how comics can be a carrier of profound aesthetic and social messages.
