Zlatarovo zlato ist der erste Roman von August Šenoa aus dem Jahr 1871. Es ist auch der erste kroatische historische Roman, der die Geschichte Zagrebs im 16. Jahrhundert (nach dem Gupceva-Bauernaufstand) erzählt.

Basierend auf historischen Fakten wird ein Bild des Lebens in Kroatien, insbesondere in Zagreb, vermittelt. Darin präsentierte Šenoa eine ganze Reihe von Persönlichkeiten – Adlige, Geistliche und Bürger. Das Rückgrat des Romans bilden die ewigen Konflikte zwischen dem zusammenbrechenden Adel und dem langsam eindringenden und Schlüsselpositionen übernehmenden Mittelstand.
