Zane Greys 1929 erschienener Roman „Die Karawanen der Toten“ ist ein Klassiker der Wildwestliteratur. Der Roman spielt im Jahr 1856 und erzählt die Geschichte einer Siedlerkarawane, die von Independence, Missouri, in den Westen zieht.
