Sirano de Beržerak
Sirano de Beržerak je romantična drama smeštena u 17. vek, koja prati talentovanog i duhovitog pesnika, vojnika i mačevaoca Sirano de Beržeraka.
Sirano je poznat po svojoj hrabrosti i oštrom jeziku, ali i po svom kompleksu – ima izuzetno veliki nos koji ga čini neprivlačnim i plaši se da prizna ljubav prema rođakinji Roksani.
Roksana je lepa i inteligentna mlada žena u koju je zaljubljen mladi, zgodni vojnik Kristijan de Neviljet. Kristijan nema dar govora ni pismenost koju Roksana ceni, pa mu Sirano pomaže – piše pisma i govori u svoje ime, skrivajući sopstvena osećanja. Roksana se zaljubljuje u Kristijana, misleći da su njegove reči dokaz velike duhovnosti i ljubavi.
Tokom rata, Kristijan je ubijen, a Roksana odlazi u manastir, oplakujući izgubljenu ljubav. Sirano joj ostaje prijatelj i posećuje je godinama. Tek na samrti, kada Sirano, teško ranjen, stiže na njihov poslednji sastanak, Roksana shvata da je on bio pravi autor pisama i njena prava ljubav sve vreme. Međutim, spoznaja dolazi prekasno jer Sirano umire na kraju susreta.
U „Siranu de Beržeraku“ Rostan veliča ideale ljubavi, hrabrosti i časti, prikazujući lik koji ostaje veran sebi i svojim osećanjima, uprkos fizičkim manama i životnim tragedijama. Drama je jedan od najlepših izraza francuskog romantizma.
