Poezija

Boris Pasternak

A bilingual selection of Boris Pasternak's lyrics includes all the key collections and poems of the Russian Nobel Prize winner. The first book of the five-volume Collected Works brings anthological verses about nature, love, art, and battle.

The book Poetry, published in the editorial selection of Sveta Lukić as the first volume of the representative Works of Boris Pasternak in 5 books, brings an exceptionally comprehensive and systematically structured overview of the poetic oeuvre of one of the greatest Russian and world writers of the 20th century. This bilingual, Russian-Serbian edition allows readers a direct insight into the original rhythm, melodiousness and metaphorical layering of Pasternak's lyrics, alongside excellent translated works in Serbian.

The volume is designed to chronologically and thematically encompass all the units that form the basis of Pasternak's poetics. The selection begins with the early collections Twin in the Clouds (1912–1914) and Over the Barriers (1914–1916), in which the influence of symbolism and futurism is felt, as well as the birth of an authentic poetic voice. This was followed by the anthological collections My Sister — Life (1917) and Themes and Variations (1916–1922), which represent the very peak of Russian avant-garde lyricism, imbued with violent energy, emotional charge, and pantheistic experience of nature.

The mature collections The Second Birth (1930–1931) and In Early Trains (1936–1944) bring a turn toward simpler, more classical expression and deeper reflection on historical circumstances, while the late cycle When It Clears Up (1956–1959) exudes philosophical peace, spirituality, and metaphysical insights into the meaning of human existence. The special value of this edition is represented by the volumes Various Poems (1913–1931), which collect lesser-known or uncollected verses, and the block Poems, in which Pasternak confirmed himself as a master of epic-lyrical forms.
