Bijeli znak cvijeta

Danijel Dragojević

The work, printed in a limited edition of 200 copies, reflects Dragojević's reticence and resistance to publicity, which became his trademark. The White Sign of the Flower has influenced Croatian poetry, celebrating the quiet wisdom and beauty of the ever

The White Sign of the Flower, a collection of poetry by Danijel Dragojević, published in his own edition and signed by the author and illustrator Boris Dogan, is a key work in his oeuvre, marked by a meditative and philosophical tone.

Set in the context of Croatian poetry in the 1960s, the collection explores themes of space, time, existence and spirituality through static, almost painterly motifs. Dragojević, an observer of the "obvious and obvious", creates poetry that avoids drama, focusing on the moment and reality, with subtle Christian symbolism.

The collection consists of poems in prose and verse, where motifs of flowers, light and silence often appear, symbolizing inner peace and the search for meaning. The title "white sign" alludes to purity and transcendence, but also to transience, which reflects Dragojević's fascination with nature and its cycles.

The poems included in the collection question the boundaries between the real and the abstract, man and the world, with an emphasis on inner duality and the search for God. Dragojević's language is dense but clear, with an emphasis on precision and rhythm, which makes the collection more demanding, but deeply reflective.
