Fantom

Fantom

Jo Nesbo

The ninth novel about detective Harry Hole, set in Oslo, where Harry returns after three years in Hong Kong, this dark thriller about addiction and crime, with unexpected twists, keeps the reader in suspense until the very last page.

Harry returns to Norway to investigate the arrest of Oleg, the son of his ex-partner Rakel, accused of murdering his friend Gust Hanssen, a young addict. Harry, who considers Oleg his son, is convinced of his innocence and begins a private investigation, even though he is no longer part of the police force. The Oslo underworld, teeming with drug dealers and the new synthetic drug violin, becomes the scene of his investigation.

The investigation leads Harry to a network of corruption involving powerful players, including a mysterious underworld boss known as Dubai. As Harry digs deeper, he discovers connections between violins, murder, and his own past. He meets old allies, such as Beate Lønn, but also new enemies, while confronting his own demons - alcoholism and guilt towards Oleg and Rakel. Tensions rise when Harry realizes he is a target, and the truth about the murder leads to a shocking revelation about the identity of the Phantom.
