Život je igra

Život je igra

Alberto Moravia

The book consists of several stories that explore the complexity of human behavior, often through an ironic and satirical depiction of everyday life.

The title “Life is a Game” symbolically emphasizes Moravia’s vision of life as a series of social, emotional, and moral games in which people participate, consciously or unconsciously, in order to cope with their own desires, fears, and social pressures. The stories deal with themes such as alienation, sexuality, hypocrisy, and the search for identity in modern society. The characters are often ordinary people – from the bourgeoisie to the working class – whose inner struggles are revealed through everyday situations. One of the hallmarks of Moravia’s style in this collection is his ability to create complex portraits of characters and their motives through minimalist yet precise descriptions. The stories often have unexpected twists or subtle conclusions that lead the reader to think more deeply about moral and philosophical issues. For example, some stories explore how social conventions shape relationships between men and women, while others consider the absurdity and irony of human ambition.
